Malware
Harmful software that is designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a computer system.
Did you know?
Malware is short for malicious software, and it doesn't just mean viruses. Malware can also include spyware, adware, worms, and other programs designed to infiltrate your computer.
Recent trends
The first widely known computer virus, the 1986 “Brain” virus, is considered an early form of malware. These days, mobile devices are a prime target, with fake apps, malicious ad networks, and spyware increasingly targeting mobile users. Because phones are always connected and often used for activities like banking, work, or shopping, they've become an ideal entry point for malware campaigns.
